Murtas Group

The Murtas Group is a major international conglomerate based in Italty. Tied historically to an Urbino resistance movement during the 1930s and 40s, the Murtas Group has since grown to become highly successful in business ventures. The Murtas Group has an annual income, as of 2009, of roughly 15 billion USD.

History[]

The Murtas family were once aristocrats, last heirs to the Duchy of Urbino, as well as holding Countships on various nearly regions. Disputes formed over if the Barony of Urbino superseded the Murtas claim, but ultimately it remained irrelevant, the family left to run a winery. As World War II became a reality the Murtas found themselves as leaders of a local resistance movement, helping to coordinate with the Allies. While the Murtas estate, including the winery, would be razed, come the end of the war the family had established powerful connections.

The Murtas started with a fashion line, which would later become known simply as M, and quickly grow in prestige. While the fashion brand would eventually relocate to Milan, the initial success saw a revitalization for Urbino, and in turn led to the creation of Renaissance Resorts, with the original still located in Urbino itself. It quickly became common for top members of the Murtas family to assume historic titles, as well as take places of leadership within the company. Before the end of the 1990s Valetudo Facilities became a new addition to the Murtas Group.

As of the 21st Century it estimated the Murtas Group controls a staggering 50% or more of Urbino's economy. While the M fashion line remains the most profitable venture with the Murtas Group, averaging 9 billion dollars a year, the other branches have continued to prove profitable.

Management[]

The CEO of the company is appointed by the board of trustees, who themselves are elected by major stockholders, which are primarily the Murtas family. Each board member also tends to hold a major role within the conglomerate, typically being in charge of a major division as well as holding an honorary aristocratic title.
