The Security Service or MI5 (Military Intelligence, Section 5) is the federal criminal investigation agency for the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Headquartered primarily London, MI5 has expanded to have branch offices in other major UK cities, including the Northern Branch in Manchester. Founded in 1909, MI5 entered its modern form in 1952.
